How long have you been at GOSS?
Just over 23 years (March 2002).
What's the best thing about working at GOSS?
The potential for growth. If you're ready to take initiative, there are opportunities to develop and expand your skills.
What do you do at GOSS?
Part of my role is to read the fine print i.e. legal compliance stuff and industry standards, so everyone else can focus on their work. I then work with various teams to find practical ways for them to keep doing what they do, while staying on the right side of those rules and avoiding any penalties or failed audits.
If you could sum up working at GOSS in three words, what would they be?
Inclusivity, opportunity, flexibility.
What's a guilty pleasure you're willing to admit?
I love a good anime marathon.
What's your dream travel destination?
My dream travel destination is less about a particular location, and more about a culinary journey. I want to travel to countries and experience their cultures through their food e.g. street food, local markets, etc.
What's your favourite way to spend a weekend?
For me, weekends are best spent cooking and savouring good food in the company of others. There's nothing quite like a home-prepared meal shared with family and friends as a way to unwind, although reading a good book with a nice cup of tea is a close second.
Amanda Heaton
Accounts Payable and HR
How long have you been at GOSS?
I joined at the end of November 2021.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the Business Services team at GOSS?
As a small team at the centre of the business, we each support each other whilst having our own definitive yet varied roles to keep us busy. Impacting every department with minimal interruptions, we ensure the smooth functioning of daily primary operations, allowing our teams to concentrate on productivity and development.
What's the best thing about working at GOSS?
Can I say working at home in my pyjamas?! But honestly, I think the flexibility GOSS offers engages an inclusive company-wide work ethic which encourages responsibility and both professional & personal growth - recognised on a regular basis by both internal management and clients.
What do you do at GOSS?
I cover the purchase ledger, various aspects of HR and payroll, and help with the internal audit a little.
If you could sum up working at GOSS in three words, what would they be?
Supportive, Engaging, Rewarding.
What's a hobby or passion of yours outside of work?
Volunteering at charity events; I'm often out in my team shirt & hi-vis supporting St. Luke's Hospice, Trevi Women, Jeremiah's Journey, Cancer Research UK & NSPCC SW, to name but a few. Whether I'm route marshalling, handing out medals, selling raffle tickets or decorating Christmas trees, I absolutely love being among those who are doing some amazing fundraising for charities to continue their outstanding work supporting those who need it.
What's a guilty pleasure you're willing to admit?
80's cheesy rock power ballads to get through the housework.
If you could live in any fictional world, where would it be?
Wakanda would be fun, but I'm more mentally suited Wonderland.
Dinah Russell
Accounts Receivable Clerk
How long have you been at GOSS?
I would have been with GOSS for eight years in May 2025.
What has been your greatest achievement so far at GOSS?
I believe my greatest achievement was to drastically reduce the outstanding debts and reducing the number of days clients are passed GOSS' 30 days payment terms. Also designing various reports and templates in Sage (our accounts package) which is not an easy task, especially for someone that's not technically adapt at all!
What do you do at GOSS?
I am the Accounts Receivable Clerk. I send the invoices to clients and make sure payments are received.
If you could sum up working at GOSS in three words, what would they be?
Friendly, supportive and fun.
What's your dream travel destination?
New Zealand but, unfortunately, my husband won't fly and I don't fancy a two month one way trip on a boat to get there!
If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be?
Freddie Mercury (an interesting, flamboyant character), any comedian for a bit of a laugh (in no particular order: Lee Mack, Ed Gamble, Hugh Dennis, plus many more etc., etc.) and Amy Johnson (the famous aviator who I am related to (she was my grandmother's cousin) and who also looks very much like my mother confirming there is some connection) who stood out in her era as a bit of a daredevil.
What's your favourite way to spend a weekend?
Either watching our son play hockey (in the winter) and cricket (in the summer) and spending time with our daughter too.
