The GOSS / SharePoint connector has many great benefits.

  • Save time by not repeating work
  • Save money by not buying additional SharePoint licenses
  • Increase security, accessibility and control of your website

How it works (non-technical)

  1. User adds a document/image to a SharePoint folder in the usual way.
  2. SharePoint automatically synchronises the document/image to GOSS iCM and publishes it to your website.

That's it.

To remove the document/image from the website, the user "un-publishes" it within SharePoint and it is automatically removed from GOSS iCM and the website.

You can even publish documents/images in bulk.

How it works (technical)

Organisations with GOSS iCM can use content from Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) for publishing to a website or intranet. Publishing, Workflows and content are supported by a comprehensive Web Content Management system that empowers multiple users, contributors and administrators to publish content stored within MOSS without using the Web Content Management system.

A MOSS Workflow is a tool for defining a set of activities that can be performed on a List item. There are numerous List types, Document Libraries and Picture Libraries are two of the more common ones that are relevant to a web project. The GOSS iCM SharePoint Connector provides pre-defined Workflows for controlling the publishing of Items to the website.

A Workflow is triggered automatically when an item is added to a List or updated. A Workflow can also be triggered manually by a user with suitable privileges in MOSS. The Workflow communicates with GOSS iCM to allow the item to be added, updated or removed from the GOSS iCM media library. In addition, Workflows can be configured to carry out their actions only when a particular field contains a certain pre-defined value.  This simple but powerful feature makes it easy for customers to control iCM content publishing from their own Workflows.

GOSS Interactive enables you to maintain a website that gives your customers value added services by ensuring that information is always up-to-date and relevant. A document that is created in SharePoint, then published via GOSS iCM, can then be updated in SharePoint, and the updated version will be automatically published on the website.
