The user navigates to a URL, of which the id is set to proxy the back end application and look for the area required. The user sees the content of the back end application specific area within the HTML of the article.
The template does not use iframes or any browser based technology but extracts the code from the proxied application, processes it so that all references are replaced, and displays it to the end user is a single consistent piece of HTML.
Any interactions with the page such as form submissions are handled by GOSS iCM. Submissions to the proxied application are processed and a response re-displays to the user. The end user sees no discontinuity in service - they are not directed to a separate site do fulfil a service request.
The proxied application sees only standard transactions and requires little or no modification to its own display configuration other than removal of unnecessary screen furniture such as the branding and navigation. This is all handled by GOSS iCM, keeping the corporate look and feel without additional work.
