Many clients chose GOSS Interactive so that they can have their website delivered in Java, make the most of their in-house Java developers and integrate with other Java systems. Here is an example of some of the Java work undertaken by GOSS and our clients:
UKFC
The UK Film Council has a Java web delivery for its website. It uses an IP locator tool from MaxMind. This insures that video content under licence is presented in the correct geographic location.
The website is integrated with the UK Film Council's database of funds that users can explore.
In addition there is a conversion of Excel to HTML content for displaying box office figures. The Excel content is added and stored in GOSS iCM and is rendered as HTML without the need for any copy and pasting or double entry.

YouthNet
YouthNet were the first online only charity, founded in 1995. One of their projects, called Lifetracks, includes a whole programme of on-the-ground and online services for 16 to 25 year-olds. Part of the the web delivery includes a Java website built primarily by YouthNet's in-house developers using GOSS iCM.
Users are encouraged to create profiles, blog about their experiences, help others or ask questions. A portfolio of advice is offered from how to get into further education, how to break into the job market and how to give back to the community by developing personal skills. Within each section, tasks are identified which users can add to their profiles as a "to do" list of actions.
London Borough of Hillingdon
The use of a proxy template allows the London Borough of Hillingdon to publish dynamic information for users to interact with. This allows other 3rd party systems to be presenting in the website and interacted with directly by users with out them realising that different systems are being used. This is a benefit for clients who want to maintain a consistent brand across all online communications.

Some of the initial Java developments include an new map presentation of the weather as well as mobile web delivery. These were developed by GOSS and the Met Office in-house developers.
