The Council's web site was rated 'Transactional' overall, one below the highest grade given by the government watchdog SOCITM, which assesses all 552 council web sites in the country.
The results follow developments carried out with GOSS Interactive, as Cllr John Cherry, Portfolio Holder for Resources at Chichester District Council outlined,
"There have been many developments to the web site, such as making the site more accessible to all; improving the search facilities; introducing a translation function; and making the web site more transactional by allowing residents to access services without having to visit any of the council buildings. The Council was one of the first in the country to view and submit planning applications online. Since then we have offered many other services online, including the ability to book leisure activities; make payments; and, apply for housing benefits, to name a few.
The aim has been to make council services accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, making it far easier for people to access our services."
Robert McCarthy, Managing Director at GOSS Interactive, adds, "Working with Chichester District Council has enabled GOSS Interactive to implement many of the features available in iCM, helping to support the Council's online strategy. Our experience of delivering iCM and best practice to local authority web teams means that we can be both innovative with the technology, and knowledgeable about its context; resulting in useful and relevant solutions to client needs."
