Sunderland City Council has selected GOSS Interactive to build a new website, powered by their Web Content Management system – GOSS iCM (intelligent Content Management).

GOSS iCM will provide Sunderland's website with substantial new features, whilst increasing ease of use and efficiencies for the Council's staff. It will deliver a next generation website for citizens, with an array of functionality to access Council services.

Huw Williams, Information Architect, Sunderland City Council, comments "Implementing GOSS iCM as our Web Content Management system will have significant benefits for our stakeholders. The Council's staff will be able to work more efficiently and deliver a more feature rich website and citizens will benefit from the ability to access a range of Council services online, also driving efficiencies in the Council's service delivery."

Rob McCarthy, Managing Director, GOSS Interactive, adds "I am delighted that Sunderland City Council will be using the full range of features offered by GOSS iCM. Sunderland will be making savings to the web team's working day, the time spent by citizens' accessing council services online, and the time spent delivering services as more are moved online."

The web team at Sunderland is currently using a desktop HTML editor. The team finds this tool complex for web authors to use, it can not ensure that accessibility standards are met and has limited functionality. In contrast, GOSS iCM only requires an internet browser, is very intuitive to use and provides accessibility validators as standard. Other features that impressed the web team include the ease of creating sub-sites, uploading and manipulating images (which can be done in bulk), and the workflow functionality that will enhance the devolved content contribution process, vital to improving the efficiency of the publishing process.
