The Council will utilise GOSS iCM (intelligent Content Management) to support the communication of its services and to increase access to them via the website.

After six years of using Microsoft CMS 2001, the web team at Lanarkshire Council decided that it was time to update and began a tender process with companies across Europe.

Sue Roberts, website development project owner, at North Lanarkshire Council explains, "We were looking for a CMS that would allow us to engage effectively with the people of North Lanarkshire.  GOSS understood this and GOSS iCM not only supports, but encourages it.  We wanted to work with a supplier who would customise its product to support our aims; again, GOSS fitted the bill."

GOSS iCM will enable North Lanarkshire Council to improve usability and workflow for site contributors, to delegate administrative tasks and ensure that its website complies with modern web standards. In addition, GOSS iCM offers the functionality to help North Lanarkshire Council deliver its business goals and engage its citizens in new ways by employing Web 2.0 technology such as polls and surveys, RSS feeds, social bookmarking plus friendly and short urls.

Roberts adds, "Technology moves just as fast as the demands that are made on local authorities and North Lanarkshire Council has major ambitions for its new site and the services it delivers.  Extensive experience in working with over 50 councils means that GOSS can support these aims.  Our new site will develop over its five year life span and we were particularly impressed with GOSS's commitment to working with its clients and user groups to meet their changing needs."

Rob McCarthy, managing director at GOSS Interactive adds, "North Lanarkshire's site is all about engagement – to convey information about services and to increase access to them. In many cases the site is used to deliver services online. GOSS iCM provides a framework to make these processes technically as straight forward as possible. Our experience of delivering GOSS iCM and best practice to local authority web teams means that we can be both innovative with the technology and knowledgeable about its context; resulting in useful and relevant solutions to meet clients' needs."
