MP praises our 'amazing' technologyThe Plymouth Devonport MP Alison Seabeck described revolutionary new technology developed at the Tamar Science Park offices of GOSS as both 'amazing' and 'full of potential' during a visit to the company's offices. The MP met chief executive Richard George and other members of staff during an hour long visit, and said she would tell Industry Minister Alistair Darling about the technology when he visits Plymouth during Enterprise Week. She was shown the new mobile Content Management system called iCM ZOOM! which allows people to send pictures, videos, sounds, and text directly to a website from a mobile device. The system is currently being used on a special website called Making Plymouth Great (www.makingplymouthgreat.co.uk), which has already had 30,000 visitors, and has had content sent in from as far away as New Zealand. A video recording of Alison was taken by a member of staff using a mobile phone and was sent to the site. The MP called the result "amazing". "It has real potential and I am encouraged that people are using it to send pictures and videos into the Making Plymouth Great website in such a positive way," she said. "This technology is able to give people instant access to a council or other body and is really important in terms of making people feel their voice is being heard. It has countless possibilities." Richard George told the MP that this innovation is well in advance of the type of technology being used to run sites like You Tube, which was recently purchased by Google.
