Crystal Clear Site for Gloucestershire County CouncilGloucestershire County Council have been awarded the Plain English Internet Crystal Mark for their website.GOSS congratulates Gloucestershire County Council on being awarded the Plain English Internet Crystal Mark for their website. Using GOSS iCM software the site is accessible and easy to use, enabling up to date and relevant information to be added and disseminated across the County. The site has been awarded the Crystal Mark from the Plain English Campaign who say, "We are very pleased to award www.gloucestershire.gov.uk our Internet Crystal Mark. The website is well written and logically designed, making it easy to use. Visitors can quickly find the information they need. When residents and visitors can find what they are looking for on a website, there is less need to contact the Council, saving time and money". The Plain English Campaign is an independent organisation that promotes the use of clear language and a move away from the excessive use of jargon and gobbledygook. The campaign defines Plain English as language that can be easily understood and interpreted by its intended audience. The campaign also takes into account design and layout. The Gloucestershire site enables a number of authors to create pages, add and edit content. Ensuring that the language used is plain, appropriate and valid has resulted in the site being awarded the Crystal Mark. Angela Frodin, Web Manager Gloucester County Council, remarks "Thank you for being part of the team effort that has resulted in our site being recognised for providing a clear, consistent and easy to use site for users".
